Palettes of Palestine

13 October |2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Over the past year, Gaza has endured relentless violence, with thousands killed, lives devastated, and millions crying out for an end to the ongoing bombings. We’ve seen ongoing censorship of Palestinian voices, ongoing islamophobia and ongoing complicity of the west. This is just a glimpse of what Palestinians have been facing the last 76 years.
It’s normal to feel helpless, exhausted, and even hopeless in the face of genocide. But together, we are reminded of the power of community, shared grief, and collective strength. This gathering is a reminder that we are not alone in this fight. Though the weight is heavy, the fight is not over— we are still here and standing and fighting together.
Let’s come together to honour the martyrs, loss, struggle of the last year and 75 more. Let’s deeply honour the ongoing resilience and strength Palestinians shouldn’t have to have, but continue to teach us. If this year has showed us anything, it is that none of us are truly free until everyone is free.
“I feel like a small candle in the darkness,” says 17-year-old Ali from Gaza. Many of you know him as the artist behind the surfboard collage, a symbol of resilience that some of you proudly wear and share since our first Palettes of Palestine event October 14th 2023.
Let’s light up a candle in the dark, in their honour, a symbol of our solidarity here, and ongoing call for a free Palestine.
The program consists of art created during this last year. Art stays a powerfull medium through which even the youngest voices can communicate. It is not only so important for the creator, inspiring for the one who engages in it, but also a remarkable victory against those trying to erase them.
