SUMMARY:MOAW x RebelUp : Ghazal Faghihi + Jef Mertens + Ziga Ipavec + RebelUp Sebcat (Dj)
DESCRIPTION:We close the season with a distinctly local lineup. A first collaboration with the guys over at Rebel Up.\nAddress – Rue Adolphe Lavallée 39\, 1080 Brussels\nDoors – 18 00\nTickets – 10 euros (for pre-sales email harsh.agarwal7@gmail.com) \nGhazal Faghihi – Clarinet/Improvisation/Contemporary\nGhazal Faghihi is a clarinetist and improviser. Trained as a classical musician\, she soon gravitated toward a vibrant community of classically trained artists who are pushing the boundaries of the canonical repertoire.\nlately\, Ghazal has been mainly focused on improvised music. In her solo project\, she explores the full sonic range of both modern and historical clarinets through improvisation. She is also experimenting with live electronics\, in which she fuses the organic resonance of her instrument and objects with electronic textures.\nShe is collaborating with several collectives mainly dedicated to improvised music\, such as L.I.E BXL (Laboratoire d’improvisation expérimentale)\, EMC Collective\, and Ranges Collective. This summer\, she will record her debut album with Relative Pitch Records. \nJef Mertens – Electronic/Experimental/Folk\nBelgian musician and filmmaker Jef Mertens has been an active force in the experimental music and film scene for nearly two decades. Known for his documentaries on artists like Sonic Youth and Borbetomagus\, as well as his work with the now-defunct Dadaist Tapes label\, Mertens continues to push the boundaries of sound exploration.\nCurrently\, Jef is playing the taishogoto\, a Japanese stringed instrument that became a new focal point in his sonic explorations. Initially drawn to its unique tonal qualities\, he approached the instrument with an open-ended curiosity\, using it as a means to reshape his musical language.\nhttps://aguirrerecords.bandcamp.com/album/orchid-alto \nŽiga Ipavec – Percussion/Improvisation/Groove\nŽiga Ipavec is a Slovenian drummer and percussionist whose solo work explores the lyrical and meditative potential of rhythm and sound texture. Rooted in improvisation\, his performances weave together diverse stylistic languages—from contemporary classical to free jazz—into poetic and expressive soundscapes.\nHis drumming resists linearity\, instead embodying a contemplative exploration of silence\, resonance\, and spatial awareness. In both performance and research\, he aims to expand the vocabulary of percussion into something deeply personal\, reflective\, and immersive.\nhttps://zigaipavec.bandcamp.com/album/iga-ipavec-tolkalska\nWe will open doors early to enjoy the sun and vibe to the selector that is RebelUp Sebcat
